It’s that time of the year when we join our friends and family for fun and celebration.
This year, Heineken and Da la Sama have come together to set up the biggest beer carnival in Tanzania. And we are not worried—we really are not. We are just excited, and Carnival is just around the corner.
When is the Bata La Disemba Carnival?
The city of Da La Saama will experience Bata La Disemba on December 6-8 2024. The Carnival will be the talk of the town and the memories that will linger after, will last a lifetime. On the records as announced, there will be games, music, sports, electrifying vibes and so much flowing top-notch beer, just know it’s not a carnival you can miss!
Now let’s talk top 5 items you need to take along with you.
-
Wear Comfort
Let’s talk outfits! While comfort is our first priority, it is important to also know the weather forecast for the day and dress appropriately for the weather.
When it comes to what to wear, you just can’t go wrong with a jeans pant; not too tight or skinny but something you can be free in, the size depends on you but comfort is a must! Then check through your wardrobe and add your favourite beer top. Well, we don’t care what it says; ‘I love beer’ maybe? Buy yeah you get the drift. A pair of jeans, your favourite beer top along with comfortable shoes will be our top bet. You could be standing for the next few hours, so pay attention to what shoes you choose to wear.
The vibe is celebratory and playful – but if the weather says it’ll be cold, don’t forget to take a sweater with you.
-
Water Flask!
Ah, water, This is the one thing you cannot miss out on on your to-have list. It is the most indispensable companion at a beer festival. You already know why water is great if you are a fan of beer, still, I’ll indulge you more.
Water is there to keep you on your feet and not end up getting wasted, which happens fast once you have had several tastings of high-alcoholic craft beer! And sampling everything from hoppy IPAs to rich stouts, at this point, the ABV wouldn’t matter. Be sure to drink water between each pour. Moreover, a splash of water can serve as a refreshing cleanser for your tasting glass, ensuring that each new beer is enjoyed without any lingering flavours from your previous tastings. So, don’t overlook this simple yet important element, have a water flask with you; it will enhance your tasting experience and keep your senses sharp throughout the festival.
-
Food is essential
Don’t forget to eat! They say the way to a man’s heart is food, but we are saying, the way to stay fit at carnivals is when there is enough food in your stomach. Don’t go around with a grumbling stomach and a grumpy face.
At the festival, grabbing a bite is a must. Most good beer carnivals have local food options and food trucks, which hit the spot for those late-night cravings. Get some real food so you can keep the good times rolling—and feel better the next morning!
-
Hand Sanitiser
Attending a beer festival can sometimes turn into a rather messy experience. With countless people happily indulging in their favourite beers, it’s not uncommon for beer to splash and spill, leaving sticky trails in its wake. To keep your hands clean and carefree amidst the chaos, carrying a small bottle of hand sanitiser can be a game changer.
Moreover, the restroom situation is always a thing at these carnivals. The toilet along with the port-a-potties, can quickly deteriorate into less-than-pleasant conditions as the day progresses. While it is true that navigating these less-than-pristine facilities is part of the experience, it can certainly add to the overall discomfort.
Even if you feel perfectly fine and think you won’t need it, keep in mind that someone nearby may need it. When the moment comes, you will be prepared with that little bottle of sanitiser, what better way to be a Superman/woman right? Go Our sanitiser Hero!

A Safe Ride Home
Knowing how to leave is as important as knowing how to get to a beer carnival. You must be prepared to leave beforehand and plan your trip. Are you driving? Or is there a friend coming to pick you up? Are you ordering a ride back home? These are all the options you should consider before starting your carnival ride.
But we would advise you not to drive home, there’s no need to risk it with all the available options at the carnival. Just check for a ride, most beer carnival runs different ride options and you can easily pick the one that suits you and of course, suits your pocket also!
Also, remember to drink responsibly and if you know how wasted you get after a few tastings, be sure to have a carnival buddy.
