What was the brief like?

In preparation for the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards 2021, I was required to gather and analyse all the data obtained from a database of over eight million internet users across all ID Africa’s media channels between June 2020 and May 2021. I had just a month and a few weeks to find the top performers in the entertainment industry and most popular individuals across 25 categories. My task was to pull off the biggest online awards show in Nigeria.

Let’s talk about the role you played during the execution of the brief.

I was the Project Manager and Lead Content Creator for this project. It involved a lot of data gathering, filing, and organizing to help the creative teams have access to all the visual content needed to produce creative designs for the awards show. On the other hand, there was a lot of content writing going on – from press releases to news stories, features, and more.

Can you share some of the results or outcomes from this campaign/project?

It was fantastic. The responses we got this year were way better than the previous year. For me, the highlight was when some of the winners genuinely appreciated the award. Top talents like Funke Akindele, Cardi B, and many others were super excited about the recognition they received.

Have you got any key lessons from this campaign/project that is worth sharing?

This project made me realise that we all need to expand our horizons and talk more about people and things other than ourselves.

What’s next for you over the next three months?

I’m looking to study more about corporate communications and fine-tune my writing skills.
