Unlike Facebook, Twitter intends to tell you what’s “happening now”.

Twitter is reinventing itself and we’re so here for it.

For the first time in 12 years since the company launched, Twitter is doing something right. Not only is the platform currently profitable, it may encourage more digital advertising like other tech giants, Google and Facebook.

On Wednesday 13 June, 2018, Twitter employee for consumer products, Sriram Krishnan shared a thread introducing some of its new changes.

But Krishnan didn’t explain everything.

It figures, Twitter will have an Explore section which will help you find whatever you want.
You will be able to search for topics and see what’s happening in news and entertainment rather than search for stuff via the previous video or article formats.

Push notifications on breaking news would be sent to everyone.
A personalized news notification based on individual interests would take you to what’s happening with all of the Tweets and related video in one place.

And Moments which was launched in 2015, would have a new vertical viewing experience.

These changes would roll out gradually in the coming weeks.

All this means is that new users will be able to navigate the platform easily.

Also, unlike Facebook which has rebuked all BS*ing comments implying that it is a news platform and went ahead to remove its “Trending Topics” section, Twitter is embracing news. FAST!

But who will love it?

We’re not sure who exactly.

Folks who joined over 10 years ago may grumble when they start noticing the new changes but we know they’ll be fine.

The most unpredictable generations, Gen Zers and millennials are WILD and basically turnt up on the platform. We don’t know how they’d react after these changes have been made.

But, is curating news really a stronghold for tech companies like Twitter these days?

Well, Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey had once described the platform as “ the people’s news network”. He may be right afterall. Only algorithms, content creators, users and time will tell.
