If you use Tumblr, you’ll know how much its users love GIFs. Understanding this, the app has incorporated a mobile-only GIF maker into the tumblr app.
Tumblr has been concentrating on GIF sharing for a while now. Some months back, it launched the Tumblr TV which lets you search for (not so infinite) GIFs with keywords.
In the bid to erase speculations on why Tumblr is somewhat late getting into the GIF creation space, engineering lead, Kevin Grant explains:
It’s only been recently that our mobile devices have gained the processing power to make the process of easily converting burst photos and vides to the GIF format possible, as well as simple enough to manage with just a few taps.
To use the new feature, select the compose button on Tumblr; choose to create a new photo post. You’ll be presented with the option of filtering your camera roll images by GIFs at the bottom of the screen.
