What was the brief like?
Euro 2020 tournament was upon us and I was required to handle a campaign for DStv and MultiChoice to create awareness for the matches and increase viewership via their channels.
Let’s talk about the role you played during the execution of the brief.
Aside from creating the strategy document for the campaign, I managed the media (print and digital) to ensure that all stories about our client and the campaign had a positive narrative. I also created content such as blog posts, listicles, news stories, and worked with the creative design team to produce visual pieces and multimedia materials.
Can you share some of the results or outcomes from this campaign/project?
At the end of this campaign which lasted for 5 weeks, we had recorded over 60 earned media mentions in key print and online news platforms. By focusing on telling the stories of players of African descent who were participating in the Euro 2020 tournament, our pitched stories garnered a lot of interest from bloggers and journalists across various channels. This storytelling approach gave a fresh, relatable perspective to the tournament for Nigerians.
Have you got any key lessons from this campaign/project that is worth sharing?
People are making a quick shift from the regular long-form articles and are now more interested in consuming short and witty audio-visual content. This means content creation isn’t business as usual and we must start focusing more on other forms of content that have proven to work better with our audience.
What’s next for you over the next three months?
More work. The grind never stops.

Nah. I think it was a very interesting campaign for me.
Did you acquire any new skill as a result of this task?
Not necessarily. Majorly, I improved on my old skills.
