Meet Hawkeye – 5 years old, Pro Photographer, Instagram Celebrity and Author!

At the age of 5, most kids are still struggling to adapt to post-kindergarten life, time away from Mommy’s milk, and the changes in the primary attention of parents, which had just been lost to the newborn sibling.

But not Hawkeye Huey, the 5-year-old son of Aaron Huey, a professional photographer for National Geographic.

In his 5 years on earth, the Wunderkind has made a name for himself as a renowned photographer and Instagram celebrity. He currently has over 171,000 followers who have fallen in love with his unique perspectives on photography, and was named by Rolling Stone magazine as the 40th Best Instagram account of all time.

Huey takes photos by himself using an analog camera, and he is the youngest ever photographer to have been published by National Geographic Magazine.

His Dad taught him how to use an instant camera at the age of 4, and then took him on an 18-month tour of the American West (the famous Wild Wild West). During this period, the father started posting Hawkeye’s photos on Instagram, gradually building up a huge following for the little boy.

Now, Hawkeye has managed to make a business out of his creativity by raising over $47,000 on Kickstarter to fund his book project – Indians Hobos Gamblers Patriots Tourists and Sunsets. Over 800 backers contributed.

His photos may not exactly be super-professional or taken with steady hands and experienced eye of career photographers like his Dad, but it is quite interesting to have the world see people, places and moments through the eyes of a 5-year-old child who has been given freedom to explore the world and pursue creative endeavours.

One envies him a little.
