Isn’t it amazing to know that one one of the biggest rap stars of today has made a considerable fashion progress through the years – from over sized denims and shirts, do rags to designer shoes, custom tailored suits and expensive watches. Labelled as one of the greatest rappers of all time with over 55 million albums sold worldwide, there aren’t many men who can compete with Jay-Z.
This week, we are celebrating a style influencer, rap legend and a business, man! 🙂 Below is the fashion evolution of Jay Z.
Taken in 1996, Jay Z was spotted in a gradient palm tree print shirt and a Jesus crucifix pendant chain.
In I998, Jay Z was seen rocking this black Roc-a-fella leather jacket and silver plated chain at billboard awards in Las Vegas, Nevada.
1999 was the era of the Roc-a-wear brand which he founded. The line consisted mainly of hoodies, tall tees, and baggy jeans
In 2000, Jay was spotted wearing a cream bowler hat paired a black denim jacket at the ‘dynasty’ record release party.
In 2003, 3 years after meeting his millionaire entertainer -Beyonce, JayZ was spotted wearing a white shirt, a pair of jean, a Von Dutch cap and diamond encrusted dog tag.
By 2004- 2005, his accessory game began to shrink and this marked the beginning of the transition to suits for Jay-Z.
In 2006,Jay Z rocked a John Lennon shirt paired with a white leather jacket and white pants at the 48th Grammy Awards ceremony where he took home best rap/song collaboration for ‘Numb & Encore’.
By 2007, 2008 Jay-Z had started to opt for smaller sizes for his casual wears.
2009 marked the ‘All Black Everything Era’
In 2010- 2011, Jay Z continued with his all black ensemble but traded his blings for beads
2012 till now, Jay-Z became more conservative and this extended to his casual, suit and tie looks.
