On Sunday folks celebrated the 20th anniversary of the iMac. Can you believe it? On May 6, 1998, the iMac computer was launched by Steve Jobs as a personal device designed to be different.
To show you how it all began, we’re sharing this Twitter Moment with you.
It was 20 years ago today, Apple announced the original iMac. A computer from another planet;a planet with good designer. What I also like about it is, despite its legacy-free design, it sported 2 headphone jacks. they show the designer had some vision about how iMac wd be used. pic.twitter.com/UTU7vsG1D7

Dropping every legacy connector in favor of USB was genius. Made every other computer look old. At the time, I was working on a tablet concept for a major WinTel company that wanted to include a giant printer port.. On the tablet.

The owner of a recording studio I worked with got an iMac as soon as they came out. I looked at it and said, "Pfft. Where's the floppy drive? This'll never sell."

I’ve long felt guilty about not attending the 1997 Steve Jobs keynote a block from my office. Of Macworld’s staff, only the editor in chief bothered to go to the iMac launch! https://t.co/oUjWzQhO1A
