Our Most Anticipated Events and Moments of 2018

This year, IDA team members have various personal goals and plans: financial, academic, romantic, and so on.

However, as a collective, there are a few events, moments and things we all look forward to in the new year.

Check them out:

CES 2018: Our first time in Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronic Show was in January 2015 when the CEO and COO attended the world’s biggest tech showcase. This year, we are super excited to have a team member on ground once again to get first-hand look at some of the tech trends that will affect our lives and the future of our business!

Winter Olympics: History will be made in February 2018, and as Nigerians, we are excited to enjoy a rare experience of the Winter Olympics with the rest of the world. Nigeria’s bobsled team will compete at the event, marking the first time the country is represented.

Drop in exchange rate:  The Naira’s plunge to N360 per $1 back in mid- March 2017 has been affecting a lot of small medium enterprises pushing them to shut down business completely. And as a digital agency, we’ve had to suffer at the hands of exchange rate issues, seeing that a lot of our tools and subscriptions are paid for in USD, while clients pay us in Naira. It hurts. We’ll be expecting more stability in exchange rates in 2018.

2019 Election campaign: This is important. The fact that we can get to see (hopefully) some new faces running for office is exciting. We look forward to social media banter, campaign strategies and all the communication and marketing gimmicks that come up during election season.

Avengers Infinity Wars movie: This is one category which took us hours to decide on. Marvel comics fans! 2018 is finally here and it’s almost time to see the most anticipated movie of the century. The buzz about the Avengers is too much that we are literally counting down to the month of May, when it’s out in theaters. Will it live up to  expectations? We will just have to wait and see.

Possible collaboration between Davido and Wizkid: Raise your hands if you are expecting a mixtape/joint album from these two superstars. After years of real and perceived social media beef, Nigerians went into a frenzy when they both decided to squash red meat and perform  at each other’s concerts last December. Both are at the height of their success and with this new-found  bromance  we foresee a some serious  collaboration this year, 2018. Amen, somebody?

The World Cup: 2018 is a world cup year. That’s a very big deal! The 21st edition of the world’s biggest soccer competition, scheduled to take place in Russia from June 14 to July 15 is the highlight of the football calendar this year. We are ready to wear our green and white kits, and cheer Nigeria to success. At least let’s break that quarter final jinx please. h Hopefully, we can sponsor Archie to Russia.
