March 8th is recognized as International Women’s Day all over the world, a day when women are widely celebrated and their awesomeness is generally acknowledged.
As in typical Snapchat style, the social platform, famously known for its ever-changing, playful face-recognition lenses that continue to amaze techies all over the world, decided to celebrate some great women the best way they know how – by adding their faces to the list of lenses. Pretty cool, huh?
Three women who made a difference in their time; painter and feminist, Frida Kahlo, activist, Rosa Parks and scientist, Marie Curie were chosen to represent women all over the world, and we think they were pretty great choices.
The lens for Kahlo, who was known for her self-portraits, gives you the artist’s look, complete with a flower crown, red lipstick and her famous unibrow. The Frida Kahlo Corporation, who collaborated with Snapchat to make the lens a reality, said, in a statement that it was meant to “capture the faces of all her followers around the world.”

The Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development, which was co-founded by the late Rosa Parks, also helped in making the Rosa Parks lens a reality. The pretty filter sees your face transform to hers, with her pretty hat placed on your head, while her glasses gently perch on your nose. It also carries her famous quote: “You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right”, which appears when you open your mouth.

Polish scientist, Marie Curie who was the first woman to win a nobel prize, had a less dramatic lens as hers just gives you the appearance of being in a science lab, while her name appears underneath.

What an awesome way to celebrate women.
Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing women all over the world!
