The Tales of The Macallan Volume II is a distinguished 1949 single malt, the second release of a remarkable series of rare single-malt Scotch whiskies that tells the story of The Macallan pioneers and other whisky-making legacies. It is a rare whisky encased in a handcrafted Lalique crystal decanter and presented within an extraordinary almanac. Each chapter of this artistic masterpiece tells the tale of Alexander Reid, the founder of The Macallan, accompanied by stunning illustrations by renowned British illustrator, Andrew Davidson.
Crafted by The Macallan Lead Whisky Maker, Euan Kennedy, Tales of The Macallan Volume II is a fitting tribute to Alexander Reid, a visionary teacher, farmer, and distiller. Bottled in 2022, this exceptional whisky showcases the enduring legacy of Alexander Reid’s dedication to excellence, passed on through each generation of whisky masters and is held sacrosanct today even as The Macallan marks its 200th year anniversary.
Matured in the exceptional oak casks for which The Macallan is known for, The Tales of The Macallan Volume II boasts of a complex and harmonious flavour profile. With its beautiful tones of bronzed oak and subtle red hues that reflect the original meaning of Alexander Reid’s surname in Scots – The Red One – and an incredible complexity achieved through age and patient maturation, this rare whisky offers a lingering smokiness reminiscent of the whiskies of Alexander Reid’s time.

This 44.8% ABV single malt Scotch whisky has rich aromas of forest fruits, sweet woodsmoke, antique oak, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla pods, subtle herbal notes, and treacle toffee. When tasted on the palate, it delivers flavours of black cherries, plum jam, dark chocolate orange, almond and custard pastry, ginger sponge with hints of cloves, sweet woodsmoke, and a touch of loose tea leaves. With a long and complex finish, assuring a lingering sweetness and smokiness.
Marking the fourth unveiling of The Macallan collection in Nigeria in 2024, The Tales of The Macallan Volume II follows the successful introductions of The Macallan’s oldest whisky, The Macallan The Reach, and limited releases like The Macallan Classic Cut, and The Macallan A Night On Earth- The Journey, to its Nigeria consumers.
