Mini’s Augmented Vision Eyewear Is Not Your Average Aviator

Imagine you could see things the way Robocop did – having an enhanced power of sight that only you can witness. How awesome would that be?

Well, Mini’s Augmented Vision (AV) Eyewear was made to suit that purpose. The AV glasses are made in the same fashion as the popular Aviators while the function is meant to primarily create a better driving experience and an increased connectedness with places of interest for the BMW’s Mini Driver.

Mini’s Augmented Vision makes use of augmented reality. Don’t get confused, augmented reality is not the same as virtual reality. According to Mashable, augmented reality is different from virtual reality. Augmented reality is a live, physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data while virtual reality replaces the real word with a simulated one.

The sophisticated eyewear allows the driver see road signs, street names, current speed limits, gives directions alerts the driver of new messages and reads it to him/her without obstructing the driver’s realistic view of the road. Besides the driving functions, Mini AV can also be used for finding directions. It even tells you if a show or concert is sold out!

BMW Mini’s Eyewear innovation is way better than Honda’s Selfie car please.

Hey BMW, we need these glasses to get here already. I bet Nigerians would gladly embrace this innovation. It is definitely a way to avoid getting in the hands of Yellow fever. Apart from LASTMA trouble, we also have potholes to think about (take note BMW). Hopefully it would save us from the crazy Danfo Drivers and we won’t have to swerve whenever we catch a glimpse of them coming from our side mirrors.
