Tinder is arguably one of the best internationally recognized dating apps, widely used by singles (and in some cases, not-so-singles) across the globe to meet new people and find love (coughs).
Users of the app had enjoyed using the platform to find love and hookups until yesterday when it suddenly went down. People could no longer access their accounts and those who were already logged in were thrown out. The locked out lovers took to Twitter to express their displeasure, pointing fingers at Mark Zuckerberg’s app, Facebook.
Here’s why:
Yesterday, Facebook changed its third party API settings. This sudden change affected Tinder, mostly because most of its users choose to log in with their Facebook accounts, as opposed to using phone numbers and emails.
Mark, who’s been in the news lately over some US Election mess is now being accused of breaking the hearts of millions of Tinder users all over the world? What’s he gonna do next? ????
As follow up, a Facebook spokesperson confirmed via email that the social media company is indeed involved with the mess. “This was part of the changes that we announced today, and we are working with Tinder to address this issue.”
So, lovers around the world, everything is under control. Your love lives will be back on track shortly and you can get back to swiping again. Viva Tinder! Viva Forever!!
Meanwhile here’s how some users of the app reacted shortly after it went down. Super hilarious!???

@Tinder First you limit my number of swipes, now your app doesn’t work at all? Guess I’ll die alone then.

Facebook’s API change broke @Tinder, stuck in a constant loop of asking for validation.
Which, is extremely representative of how I use Tinder.
