Folks in Nigeria are yet to fully appreciate the beautiful game called basketball. People generally enjoy the thrills of football, but pay less attention to basketball.
However, for those that are still skeptical about basketball, let me show you just how exciting basketball is.
The next basketball season will begin in October, this new season will be fiercely contested by the defending champions Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers, this is simply because for the first time, King James has gotten the team he truly deserves.
In the past 4 years, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers have dominated the NBA, both reaching the finals on all four occasions, GSW scoped the championship 3 times at the expense of the Cavaliers, although, Cavaliers stopped them during the 2015/2016 finals. Last season finals was a clean sweep for the Warriors, denting the GOAT image of LeBron James.
The King has now moved on, taking his enormous talent to Los Angeles Lakers, home to lots of NBA hall-of-famers; Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant and many more.
King James was a key member of the Cavaliers team that got to the NBA finals for 4 straight season, winning just one. He joins a Lakers team that have not won the championship since 2010 and are also struggling to fill the void left by their talisman Kobe Bryant.
The Lakers have done quite the business by acquiring other talented players. After signing King James, they also added the likes of Javale McGee, Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley. The Lakers also have quite a number of young talented players in their ranks; players like Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart and Brandon Ingram.
Can they challenge the Warriors?
The Warriors on the other hand, have signed one of the best centers in the game right now, an NBA all star Demarcus Cousins from the Pelicans. As it stands, the Warriors’ ‘starting 5’ is an all star team, King James and Co may need to beware.
Personally, I can’t wait for the start of the NBA season, and just so you know, LA Lakers VS Golden State Warriors will be played on the 25th of December, remember to save the date.
