Business owners are spending a good sum for artistic and ‘one of a kind’ logos that will aid their customers to easily recognize, remember and retain an ideal image of the business in their head. While some of these logos are truly distinct, we should always remember that nothing is new under the sun and when it comes to graphic designs and logotypes, there are a thousand and one look-alikes for most of the logos that exist today.
It is common for graphic designers to have their hands full with client jobs. Sometimes (depending on how much money they’re making), they assign smaller projects to ‘junior’ graphic designers who they are mentoring or friends that they are in partnerships with. Now, many graphic artists do not conceptualize their logos. This is because they do not take their time to understand client briefs. What they do instead is to surf the internet for logo samples that might be suitable for a certain industry, make some colour, font or shape changes and then hand the project to the client.
The client, in awe, fails to double-check to see if the logo is common. (S)he accepts the logo and finds out no one can really tell the logo apart from others that exist in that industry. This is unfortunately the sad logo story of many businesses in the world today.
To ensure that your logo is not one of the many samples that exist, you can surf through these common types of logos that exist. And if you do not have a logo yet, you could show your (future) graphic artist this post to make sure they do not make anything that looks like the logos below.
