Socialite, Paris Hilton has never been the most modest person, so we’re not exactly surprised by her latest claim. According to her, she invented the now popular selfie – which coincidentally, her former BFF, Kim Kardashian is widely known for.
In a recent interview with W Magazine, the acclaimed Selfie inventor said: “If a beeper had a camera, I would have taken a selfie with it… I think I have a selfie from when I was a little kid, like on a disposable camera.” the socialite bragged.

She also took a dig at modern reality shows, calling them fake: “Nowadays, everything is just so scripted and fake,” she said. “Everything is planned out. There’s nothing real, really. I’m glad that I did it in the beginning when it was organic and fun”, she continued.
We’re not so sure if ‘invent’ is the right word, but we do agree with W Magazine, that she is indeed the matriarch of the phenomenon as she somehow managed to modernize the art of shamelessly taking and sharing thousands of photos of yourself with your phone, a trend which has since spread like wildfire worldwide.
So yes, before there was a selfie-taking Kim, there was a Paris.
