Felabration is a one of a kind music festival in Lagos, Nigeria. This is because it’s the celebration of a man considered by many as the greatest Nigerian musician ever – Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Every year, thousands of fans from around the world show up at the New Afrika Shrine, Lagos to enjoy a week long celebration of Fela, with performances by a line-up of popular and upcoming artistes.
However, live performances are nothing without a little drama. Here are 5 awkward situations that made us laugh and got people talking during the first 3 days of Felabration 2015:
- 1. When Sensei Uche forgot to leave the stage

The popular OAP got carried away recording the YCee’s Jagaban performance that he walked on stage with the artiste and forgot to leave on time. He was quickly escorted by Elvis, the big bad bouncer.

- 2. When we found the ‘Black power’ photographer
American photographer, Leni Sinclair, known to have taken the iconic photo of Fela doing the double-fisted ‘black power’ salute in Detroit (1986) was so excited to be at #Felabration. The 75 year old lady has also taken classic photos of legendary rockstars and musicians such as John Coltrane and Miles Davis.

- 3. Keziah Jones Vs. Femi Kuti

These two showed us the true meaning of a creative battle. Jones armed with his guitar and Femi with his saxophone blessed us with an awesome fusion of Jazz, Afrobeat and Blufunk. After Femi took off, 47 year old Keziah Jones took over with his classic man moves.
- 4. Between Queen Salawa Abeni and ‘Rick Ross’

When Big Sheff came on stage, we were sure it was Rick Ross until the Queen of Waka music came out and said, “I am a singer o… my son is a rapper o”. It was nice to see the Queen perform one of her hit songs with her son.

- 5. Adekunle Gold doesn’t know we know.

Everyone saw it. If you watch the video closely, you’ll see it too.
LOL.
