Lagos, Nigeria– World-renowned single malt Scottish whisky brand, The Macallan, in a strategic partnership with Lagos Motor Boat Club, has unveiled its new lounge at The Lagos Motor Boat Club, Ikoyi on Friday, June 14, 2024.
The opening event had in attendance premium members of the club, including notable figures such as The Commodore Lagos Motor Boat Club, Jide Balogun; The Vice Commodore, Lagos Motor Boat Club, Babasola Alokolaro; Honorary Treasurer, Lagos Motor Boat Club, Dr Yemi Osindero; Lady member, Lagos Motor Boat Club, Modele Idiahi; and General Manager, Lagos Motor Boat Club, Segun Oduyemi among others.
The exclusive gathering celebrated the fusion of luxury and tradition, embodying the essence of The Macallan brand. The Macallan has previously opened several other lounges in Nigeria, including The Macallan Lounge at Kaly Restaurant & Bar, and The Macallan Lounge & Bar, at Transcorp Hotels, Abuja.

The Lagos Motor Boat Club, housed in a white colonial-era building with views of the serene lagoon, is recognised as one of the most prestigious clubs in Nigeria. With its tranquil environment and pleasant ambience, the club features a distinctive nautical theme, highlighted by a wood-panelled bar with a large boat wheel as its centerpiece, and now features a new jetty. Located in the upscale Ikoyi district, the club, founded in 1932, has served as the city’s premier social venue and home to over 1,500 distinguished members.
According to industry reports, the spirits industry in the first half of 2024 has shown remarkable progress, generating a total of $374.4 million for both revenue generated at home and out of home. This data is projected to grow by 11.61% between 2024-2029, reflecting Nigerians’ growing appreciation for premium whisky.
