So Facebook changed its logo. But if you never came across this link, you would probably never have noticed.

You can see that the ‘a’ has been changed to a simpler form and some parts of the other letters have been cut/reshapened to make the new logo smaller. However, if you visit Facebook, the ‘F’ symbol/favicon still remains as it was.

Made by the collaboration of Facebook’s in-house design team and Eric Olson of Process Type Foundry. According to Facebook’s creative director, Josh Higgins noted that the change to the logo is an update and not a full redesign.
When Facebook’s logo was first created in 2005, the company was just getting started and we wanted the logo to feel grown up and to be taken seriously. Now that we are established, we set out to modernize the logo to make it feel more friendly and approachable. While we explored many directions, ultimately we decided that we only needed an update, and not a full redesign. We worked with Eric Olsen — whose typeface Klavika was used in the original logo — and developed a custom typeface to reflect where we are now and where we are headed.
Not much has changed really and quite frankly, the ‘redesign’ might not draw the attention of younger folks – if that’s what Facebook is trying to get at. Maybe if they changed colours to yellow or orange or purple (ridiculous right?), it would have been a different story.
