Starting a new job is always an exciting adventure. I was thrilled when I received an offer to work at ID Africa, a leading PR and Communication Advisory firm. I remember being particularly impressed with the entrance test I was given during the hiring process. It was challenging and made me wonder what was in for me. Little did I know how new this experience was going to be for me.

On a sunny Monday morning, I made my way to the ID Africa office, excited to meet my team and get started on my new role. I arrived at the office and was reminded, I had a remote job. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely knew my job was remote, but I was expecting some kind of physical onboarding first. I was a bit surprised but quickly got over it, knowing that working remotely had become the norm in recent times

My first few weeks at ID Africa were amazing. As a newbie, I received “baby treatment”, and my team lead was always available to guide me. I was assigned tasks and given enough time to complete them without any pressure. I thought to myself, “This isn’t as difficult as I had imagined.”

But then everything took an interesting turn. Suddenly, there were deadlines to meet, so much to do and everyone was under pressure to get things done. I realized that working at ID Africa was much more than I had anticipated.

As an intern, I am still trying to learn, do tasks, read, do my normal daily routine, and be sane at the same time. It’s been challenging to juggle everything, especially with late-night work and meetings. It’s not easy, but I’m determined to learn and grow in this role.

My team lead is cool and kind, but when it’s work, she’s all business. She pushes me to do my best and encourages me to think outside the box. My teammates are also cool and calm. We get along well during our physical meetups, and I can’t wait to meet the rest of the team.

Despite the challenges of having to work on multiple things at once, which I’m still trying to get used to, I’m enjoying my time at ID Africa. I’m learning a lot, and I know that this experience will shape my career positively.

Working at ID Africa is not always fun and games, but it’s a great company to work for. The work structure is conducive, and the team is supportive. It’s a company that is determined to make a difference in the PR & Comms industry, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

In conclusion, my two-month experience at ID Africa has been a rollercoaster ride. It has been challenging because I am still trying to get used to the fast-paced work environment. I have had to adjust to tight deadlines while working on multiple tasks simultaneously. However, I’m enjoying the experience and not giving up. I’ll keep pushing, learning, and growing in this role. The company is not just a fun and great place to work, but it also challenges and pushes me to be my best. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to growing with the team.
