Yesterday, Cristiano Ronaldo’s hometown, Madeira Islands honoured him once again by renaming its International airport after him. The ceremony came with several weird occurrences – like a man dressed as Batman watching and waving to people from a balcony – but the one we can’t wrap our heads around is the bizarre bust that was unveiled.
The statue, which was supposed to be the face of the Football legend looked absolutely nothing like him. The famously good-looking man was made to look more like a character from a horror movie.

Like the rest of the world, we have several questions; like why was Ronaldo not remotely upset? He seemed to be in rather great spirits for someone whose face had been made to look like the devil himself. Secondly, when will Madeira Islands get tired of naming everything after him? Yeah, we know they’re really proud of him, but a bit too much, maybe?

Some people even think it looks like the scary head from British kids TV show, Art Attack.
Omg it's an art attack not Cristiano Ronaldo! pic.twitter.com/PodjDgE25T

In his defense, the sculptor responsible for creating the monstrosity, Emanuel Santos claims his work was “not as simple as it seems” and was “a matter of taste”. According to the Guardian Newspaper, Mr. Santos added that “It is impossible to please the Greeks and Trojans. Neither did Jesus please everyone.”
Well, we think this would be the last time he gets commissioned for a job this big.
