BBNaija Lockdown Insights: Four Weeks After

It’s been four weeks since the Big Brother Naija Lockdown doors opened and let in twenty strangers into the House. Drama unfolded almost immediately as the housemates got to know each other and settle into the house. Four quick weeks have passed since then, the housemates have lost four of their colleagues to evictions, several have coupled up, there have been hard choices, heartbreaks and disappointments, and others that have chosen to ride solo.

On Monday, Erica became the new Head of Hous after the weekly Head of House challenge and had to choose a deputy between Kiddwaya and Laycon. This seemed like a very emotional tortious choice for Erica, as Laycon had shortly before then, expressed his feelings to her, which she had sadly let down because she didn’t feel the same way. She already confessed to being attracted to fellow housemate Kidd, and he was her choice for deputy.

The pressure of her position as Head of House seemed to gt to Erica, as she felt the need to assert herself and take charge as a leader. She had an altercation with Lucy over a carelessly spoken statement Lucy made, which resulted in a lot of name-calling and shouting, mostly from Erica’s end. She must have felt guilty about causing a scene because she later apologized to Lucy.

Laycon, having been rejected by his friend, Erica, tries his hardest to get over her. He had been wearing a long look in the past week and was determined to shake it off and get back to his bright cheerful self. He threw himself at the week’s challenges, rapping during the housemate’s wager challenge, the Anti-rape campaign. He is also steering clear of Erica, to maintain his equilibrium.

Ozo and Nengi are settling into a rhythm of friendship, though Ozo is still trying to maintain his friendship with Dorathy. Dora has asked to be left alone, and for Ozo to focus on his relationship with Nengi. This seems like a hard pill for Ozo to swallow.

Other housemates also go about their business. Neo and Vee are still a couple, they seem to be doing well. Kaisha though still shy is coming into her own and asserting herself. TrickyTee, Brighto, TolaniBaj, Prince, Wathoni, Praise also seem to have settled into their various roles and are settling in nicely.

The four weeks of the housemates being in the house has gone by very quickly, but not without its share of conversations, reactions and analysis on social media. The four most talked about housemates have consistently been, Laycon, Erica, Nengi and Ozo. Whichever other housemates these top four relate with the most, or have altercations with, also usually join the top four.
