The Lagos Laughs and Ibile Comedy Challenge event, which took place yesterday saw several upstart comedians from the 5 regions in the state compete for the price of a whooping 1 million Naira.

After more than four rounds of entertainment and perfectly-delivered jokes, the audience finally made a choice. Short Family, a struggling comedian who represented the Badagary region was declared winner and awarded the cash prize by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde and other government officials.

He was obviously everyone’s favourite as the crowd could barely contain their joy while he was being presented with his cheque. Other comedians joined him on stage to celebrate the moment, while some took their joy to the next level by lifting the jubilant winner in the air.
His joy was palpable as he gave his emotional speech, recounting how he’d come close to winning a car just last year in another comedy challenge.

Everyone agreed that it was indeed a well-deserved win.
