We Went Paintballing to Celebrate ID Africa at 7. See Pictures!

Just in case you had no idea, ID Africa will be seven on Sunday, February 27, 2022, and to celebrate how far we’ve come since 2015, the team kicked off some ‘funjoyment’ activities yesterday, that started with paintballing at Ziggies Lifestyle Arena, Lagos.

We were put into groups, got dressed in some combat-ready paintball outfits and the game began. To win, your team must have a strategy to defend the flag from your opponent while you advance to get their flag at the other end of the ‘battleground’. It was indeed a war and we finally got to see the Denzel Washingtons and Jack Bauers of ID Africa in action.

While each team played three rounds of the game, we carried guns that weighed more than some of us, wore an oversized kit and a fancy helmet (which refused to stay in position), and shot our way to victory.

The entire activity made some of us wonder what being on a battlefield really feels like. How soldiers have to constantly be at alert, look over their shoulders, take cover, protect their colleagues, and shoot without missing the target. It’s a lot and I don’t think they get enough credit for what they do.

In the midst of our ‘busyness’, it felt good to shut down our laptops, play, laugh out loud, and enjoy food and drinks to the fullest. Regardless of the body pain that followed after the intensive shooting exercise, it was an awesome bonding experience for us.
