Spotify sent out invites of a ‘mystery’ event to its users, which will be holding on May 20 in New York City. ‘Coincidentally’, Apple’s Beats streaming service has been rumoured to launch a month from the mystery event at its Worldwide Developers Conference.
Independent claims that Apple was reported to have been asking music labels not to renew their licenses with Spotify, and asking them to push it to get rid of its free tier. A seemingly desperate attempt to urge labels to dumb Spotify and choose Apple’ Beat music.
While Tidal is struggling with its ratings on the charts, Spotify’s sounding like it’s having the time of its life.
