If you’re a gun or espionage enthusiast, you’re gonna love this! Let’s get away from the popular mobile and computer tech companies for a bit and take a peek into the arms industry.
It’s really stale news that technology is the future and it’s become necessary to upgrade the workings of everything around us, even guns.
Can you recall the gun the new, young and nerdy Quartermaster presented to James Bond at their first meeting in Skyfall? Well, It’s no longer fictional. It now exists! It’s called a smart gun.

Smart guns are personalized guns that work by recognizing the identity of its owner; it cannot be used by anyone else except by its authorized owner. It makes use of the biometric details (fingerprints especially) to identify its owner. These guns are strictly for licensed owners and should only be used for self-defence and law enforcement purposes.
The smart gun called Armatix iP1 is a semi-automatic pistol developed by the renowned weapons designer and executive Ernst Mauch who happens to be a former employer of Germany’s heckler & Koch.
With this baby (I won’t buy it, I promise), you cannot be shot at with your own gun; kids can’t trigger the gun to go off accidentally. Safety and protection of the owner is the main essence of the smart guns. This helps curb ‘parental hate’ shootings, accidental discharges by unauthorized users.
Is this cool or what? Although I’m pretty sure that these guns would cost more than an arm and a leg, which cuts the possibility of ‘just anyone’ laying hands on it.
Whew! 8)
