How A 13 Year Old Boy Built A 40 Million Naira Business

‘While your mates are getting their names in Times 100, you are busy gathering Instagram likes’. This saying went round on social media after Time Magazine released the list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

The saying might just be apt as a 13-year-old boy, Moziah Bridges, has built a $200,000 business, making bow ties. Now, that’s N40 million naira!

Moziah first had an idea for Mo’s Bows when he was nine. His grandmother who is a retired seamstress taught him how to sew, and stressed in him the importance of dressing and looking sharp.

He initially sold his bow ties to online stores, and had sold 2,000 and made $55,000 when he appeared on the TV show ‘Shark Tank’ with his mother in 2013.

His appearance on the show triggered the interest of Businessman Daymond John, the founder of clothing line FUBU. Daymond became an investor in Bridges’ business, and a mentor to the young boy.

Through Daymond’s help, Bridges has met fashion icons, and has managed to grow his business in a way that has astonished Daymond himself.

Now this could have been you, but ‘you too like instagram’.
