50 Days After: 10 Things We Have Learnt On BBNaija So Far

Big Brother Naija

It’s been 50 days since the Lockdown Edition of BBNaija began and a lot has happened.

From the relationships to the fights, there are a lot of life lessons we have picked up from the show. Below, we take a look at 10 of them.

1) Do not underestimate anyone

It’s never okay to judge someone based on appearances alone. Chances are you will be wrong. Laycon came into the house with a lit-up sweater that people clowned him for, yet he turned out to be one of the smartest housemates in the game. Lucy was also another person that everyone thought would be one of the first to leave. Halfway through the game and she’s still going strong.

2) Sometimes, your ‘friend’ is really not your friend

Not everyone who seems to be rooting for you actually supports you. Some housemates learned this the hard way – Lilo, for example, assumed Vee had her back. We later saw that Vee was one of the people who nominated her to leave the house. Same goes for Tolanibaj and Vee when the latter was up for eviction.

3) Shoot your shot without fear

When the housemates came into the house, it was uncertain who would pair up. Some fearless ones like Vee wasted no time in letting her intent known. From the second night, she told Neo that she liked him and worked towards the relationship, which is still going on. Don’t be afraid to go after what, or who, you want.

4) Don’t be afraid to push your brand

In life, you must be your own publicist, marker and hype person. Let’s take Trikytee as an example. He came into the house announcing that he was a theatre major. He uses every opportunity to remind us of that fact, and his talent was further cemented when he directed the romantic musical that became the housemates’ first wager task win.

5) Choose the person that chooses you

If some housemates had stuck to this, it would have prevented a lot of love triangles and heartache. Laycon fell for Erica, but unfortunately, she had her eyes on Kiddwaya and didn’t feel the same way about him. As painful as it might be, sometimes you need to let love go, to prevent dragging things out or confusing yourself.

6) If you can’t say it in front of them, don’t say it at all

Naturally, everyone cannot be loved by all and a few housemates can’t stand each other. Some words were exchanged in whispers and some in the absence of the subject in question. Remember Erica’s face when she heard Vee’s comment to Laycon regarding her? Or Brighto denying that he called Neo ‘fake’ when talking to Kiddwaya. Be like Lucy, say it to the person’s face.

7) Being yourself is the best

Being oneself is an endearing quality that works almost every time as people naturally gravitate towards realness. Even after Ka3na and Tolanibaj were evicted, they still amassed a lot of following as the audience loved their direct approach in and out of the BBNaija Lockdown house. No one likes a pretender and if people can’t say who you really are, they can’t trust you.

8) Talk less and listen more

It cannot be denied that Brighto had the biggest 180° moment of any housemate. Brighto perfected the art of listening to the housemates even when they were not aware. This helped him perfect most of his scheming because he had information. Listening is a skill that has time and time again proven useful.

9) Put your all into what you do

There’s an adage that says, “whatever your hands find to do, do it well”. The housemates have personified this every time they strapped up for the Betway Arena games, The Head of House Challenge and every wager task. They go head-on into tackling the challenges, putting all the effort they can. And hard work does pay off as they have gotten cool rewards for many tasks.

10) Everybody loves a good party

Saturday parties are a time to relax and unwind. Regardless of the events of the week, everyone really comes alive for the party. Lucy takes a break from arguing, Laycon and Brighto unwind and remove their shirts when the dancing gets too hype. It’s total fun and good vibes.

There are still 21 days in the house and 9 housemates left. We look forward to seeing the drama and fun that will still happen. Who will walk away with the 85 million Naira grand prize? Your votes decide!
